It's possible that your airport's color in New Horizons could dictate the color of your Nook Miles items, according to one Redditor.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is full of little details--so much so that people keep discovering new things about how the game works. One such discovery is by Reddit user PraiseHolo, who observed an interesting pattern when resetting their island: It seems that the color of your airport might determine the colors of some of the items you have access to, though the theory doesn't appear to be completely supported yet because of an apparent contradiction with snack machine colors.

By now, you might have noticed that different New Horizons players have differently colored versions of certain items. For every item that has multiple color options, you have a native color to your island, and that's the only color that will be sold at Nook's Cranny. On top of that, you also have a selection of items you can redeem Nook Miles for at the machine in Resident Services, and these items are also locked to one color per island. The Nook Miles rewards are the items that seem to be affected by airport color. You can see the alleged breakdown of color options in the graphic below, made and posted by PraiseHolo. (Note that this is not confirmed.)
I Restarted Animal Crossing: New Horizons For 2 Hours Because Peaches
A possible breakdown of Nook Miles rewards colors by airport color and set, according to Reddit user PraiseHolo's research (via PraiseHolo on Reddit).
PraiseHolo explained in the Reddit thread that they were resetting their island to try to get a blue airport and black streetlamps, among other things. After many resets and playing the starting quest about 8 times (up until the upgraded resident services so I could check the streetlamp color), I realized I was only getting green streetlamps, and after some more resets I noticed that also happened with other furniture in the Nook Stop as well, such as the teacup ride. After digging through some people's Nook Stop images, I figured the furniture color isn't entirely random, they're tied in a group, and the streetlamp color is locked with the airport color, and that's why it was impossible for me to get black streetlamps AND a blue airport.
I myself have a yellow airport, and everything in the image matches up to what I have in-game (down to the smaller sets of furniture that go together irrespective of the airport color, outlined in the reddish color and purple in the image). However, some Reddit users replied to PraiseHolo and said that they had different colors of the snack machine in particular, and while most of us at found that our items matched PraiseHolo's infographic, we also had one person with a snack machine discrepancy.

Dodo Airlines (often abbreviated as DAL) is the service that operates the flights, and is run by Orville and Wilbur. Both characters are dodos, a flightless bird species that contrast with the very nature of a flight service. The Airport fulfils a similar function to the train station in Doubutsu no Mori and Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and the checkpoint of Animal Crossing: Wild World and Animal Crossing: City Folk, as well as Kapp'n's boat rides. Just as those prior buildings can be generated in one of several different colors, the town's Airport can have either blue, green, orange or yellow walls.
The Airport is located along the southern coastline of the player's island, mostly extending over the water. The island's flag is hoisted on a flagpole outside of the building. The airport also acts like a pier, and players are able to catch fish that only spawn near the pier. Inside the terminal is a departures lounge with eight chairs, a gate that leads to the seaplane, and a service desk. The desk is where flights to other islands can be arranged and the gate can be opened to allow outside visitors. To the right of the desk is a card stand, where letters can be composed and sent to other players and villagers for 200 Bells. This subsumes the primary function of the Post Office from previous games, which is absent in New Horizons.

The player arrives to the island via plane at the start of a new game along with Tom Nook, Timmy and Tommy, and two other villagers. The player is free to visit other players' islands whenever they wish, but require a Nook Miles Ticket to depart for the Mystery Island Tour on randomly generated islands. Each time the destination for the tour is chosen by Wilbur, and once on the island the player is free to collect any items the player wishes to take back with them. Other villagers can be found exploring the tour islands and recruited to come live on the player's own island. The tour islands are generated from a series of archetypes, and will always be in the same season as the player's island. Weather precipitation may differ from that on the player's island, but all tour islands appear to experience the same weather as each other on any given day. Since version 2.0, the player cannot fly or have visitors on the island if a day has not yet rolled over properly, and the player must leave the airport for Orville to allow usage of these functionalities.

After meeting Harvey on the island, players may choose Harv's Island as a destination from the airport. If the player downloads the Happy Home Paradise DLC, Lottie will appear at the airport if Resident Services has been upgraded from a tent into a building. The Archipelago will become an available destination after talking to her.
If the player flies with Dodo Airlines regularly, they will earn DAL points that will earn the player Dodo Airlines-related items. The player can earn a point for either flying to Harv's Island or to a mystery island the first time on any day, or for flying to other player's islands. The player is limited to 3 points per day with this program.

It is operated by Dodo Airline's employees, Orville, Wilbur, the only two visible employees in the game, perhaps there are more which are not visible. The facility is run by Orville, while the plane is operated by Wilbur. Along with Resident Services, Dodo Airlines is one of only two buildings present on the Deserted Island at the beginning of the game. The airport location is permanent and cannot be moved.
The building functions similar to a Train Station from past games, where the player can go to other players' islands, or invite people to come into their own.
Animal Crossing New Horizons: Which Island Layout To Choose?
Upon arriving to the Deserted Island, the Airport is shown as the airplane icon on the map of the island, and the player will be able to enter it, but Orville will explain that the player cannot use the services it offers yet. The Airport will be unlocked for the player to use on the second day after Tom Nook's morning announcements.
