Lite 2021 will be held on July 3-July 4 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. PDT (3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. EDT) each day. Tickets to the event will cost US$5, with all proceeds going to the Hate is a Virus commUNITY Action Fund. Tickets are available to purchase now on the TIXR website. Hate Is A Virus is a nonprofit community of mobilizers and amplifiers to dismantle racism and hate. A movement started in 2020, Hate Is A Virus continues to amplify, educate and activate AAPI to stand for justice and equality in solidarity with other communities. We do this by mobilizing our community to participate in local and national campaigns, creating safe spaces for dialogue and education, and providing actionable steps and funding in partnership with trusted community leaders and organizations. This includes programs related to mental health, community-based solutions for safety, representation, solidarity-building, and so much more.

ANN: The announcement says all proceeds of the $5 ticket price will go to Hate Is A Virus. To confirm, SPJA will not receive any money from the purchase of tickets?
What You Need To Prepare For Anime Expo 2022
Matsuda: Correct, as stated in the press release, the SPJA will not retain any of the funds from ticket sales, and we will pledge all proceeds to Hate Is A Virus.
Matsuda: As a nonprofit organization, the SPJA has always been very community minded. In past years, our charity auction has supported a range of causes including disaster relief in Japan, Little Tokyo community organizations, and the Animator Dormitory in Japan.
Matsuda: With our charity recipients, we consider both the current needs of our community as well as the long-term social impact. We resonate with Hate is a Virus's mission and want to help amplify their message and support their efforts.
Anime Expo 2023, When Does Anime Expo Start?
Matsuda: We'll be celebrating our 30th anniversary with exclusive, never-before-seen footage from a variety of industry partners, cultural features, educational & career development content, as well as community segments.
ANN: There will be some fans who cannot spare $5 right now due to personal difficulties due to the pandemic. Do you have a message for those who will be unable to pay for the ticket this year but who want to attend Anime Expo?
ANN: Fans outside of the U.S. will definitely want to attend the event but might not know if they can watch the streams and participate in other ways. Will fans worldwide be able to purchase a ticket and watch the events? Will there be any events or streams that will be region locked?

Feature. We will not restrict, or region lock, any content on our primary two channels, and all programming should be accessible in a majority of countries. However, some territories do regulate content internally, so we encourage overseas fans to check local ordinances and with their domestic service providers for more specific details. Due to streaming rights, a small selection of content may be available with geo- restrictions, but this will not impact our two primary channels. Where possible, we will notate known restrictions in our schedule.

By registering for an Anime Expo credential, you agree not to sell, trade, or share your promotional code, email confirmation, or badge. If the Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation (SPJA) determines in its sole discretion that you have violated any SPJA policies, SPJA can cancel your credential(s) and keep any money paid by you. Confirmations and/or credentials that have been sold or provided by anyone other than SPJA will not be honored.
You must register an individual name for each credential and each name must match a valid government-issued photo ID. If SPJA determines you have purchased more than one credential in your name for any day, SPJA has the right to cancel your duplicate credential(s) and issue you a refund less the processing fee.
SPJA reserves the right to cancel or postpone Anime Expo, or any part of Anime Expo, on limited or no notice in SPJA’s sole discretion. In the event of a cancellation or postponement of Anime Expo, SPJA shall not be responsible or liable for any costs, damages, fees, expenses, or other compensation associated with Anime Expo.

Any and all payments made to SPJA are not refundable for any reason, including, but not limited to, failure or inability to use Credentials due to illness, epidemics, pandemics, public health crisis, government restrictions, travel-related problems, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, cyber attacks, loss of employment and/or duplicate purchases. SPJA will not issue refunds, deferrals or credits for Credentials that have been revoked.
Event Credentials (Badges) cannot be reproduced or resold. No resale of Credentials shall be permitted, except with the prior written approval from SPJA. Credentials are immediately rendered void if altered in any way. The unauthorized resale of Credentials (including, but not limited to, “scalping”), the attempted unauthorized resale of Credentials, the unauthorized assignment of Credentials, the creation of counterfeit Credentials, or the unauthorized transfer of any Credentials to a third party are strictly prohibited and constitute an immediate forfeiture of your Credential(s) without compensation from SPJA. For security reasons, and to allow entry into Anime Expo, all attendees must always wear, possess, and present their badge and any required wristband credential while onsite or at any other venue/location utilized for Anime Expo as follows:

Each Attendee must retain possession of their own credential for the duration of Anime Expo and may not loan or give the credential to anyone else. If Credentials are not worn or presented correctly by an Attendee, SPJA reserves the right to refuse admission, service, and cancel the Attendee’s credential at SPJA’s sole discretion without liability. All credentials are the property of SPJA and must be relinquished to SPJA upon request.
Attendees age 13 years old and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, age 18 or older, for the duration of their time at the event. Attendees under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult if required to pick up their badge in Will Call at the Registration Booth. We recommend attendees ages 14-17 have a parent or guardian close by for the duration of the event. Please refer to the full Youth Protection Policy (Section 6) on the AX website.
