The pets that you can only get by redeeming a number of codes in Animal Jam are extremely rare. The main reason for that being that the codes only come with specific toys, and those toys cost real money. The Pet Firefly is one of those extremely rare pets.
The Pet Firefly was released in June 2016, and was rewarded to Jammers that adopted a total of fifteen different pets from the Adopt A Pet Jazwares Toys checklist. That means that you would need to purchase fifteen different Jazwares toys, redeem the codes that come with those toys, in order to receive the Pet Firefly. Today, we are going to take a closer look at the Pet Firefly, and check out its special abilities and actions.

Obtaining the Pet Firefly in Animal Jam will be a hard task. You either need to purchase fifteen Jazwares toys and redeem the codes that come with those toys, or you need to find someone that would trade their Pet Firefly with you. Here is what you can do to obtain the Pet Firefly.
If you are not willing to spend real money on Jazwares toys, your next option would be to trade for the Pet Firefly. However, it is very unlikely for you to find a Jammer that actually would want to trade their pet with you, since it’s extremely rare. You could always try to offer some of your own rare and valuable items in return, which will increase your odds.

To access the Adopt A Pet Checklist, you first have to click on the “Change Your Look” button, which can be found at the bottom-left corner of your screen. Once you are there, you have to click on “Pets”. This will take you to your pets overview. On this screen, you will notice a purple button at the bottom, called Toy Box. Simply click on that button to access your Checklist.

However, it should be noted that only players that have already redeemed at least one code that came with a Adopt A Pet Jazwares Toy will see the “Toy Box” button. The button does not show up if you haven’t adopted a pet toy yet. If a player already unlocked the Checklist, you can check theirs out by clicking on their Player Cards. Only unlocked pets will show up though.
This is a question that gets asked by many Jammers. In order to check off any of the pets on the Checklist, you first have to purchase an Adopt A Pet Jazwares Toy. Those toys come with codes that can be redeemed. Once redeemed, that particular pet will be checked off from your list!

Here is an example of an Adopt A Pet Checklist that already has several pets unlocked on it. As you can see, there are many greyed out animals that can still be unlocked.
There are currently six different “series” of Adopt a Pet Checklists. As time progresses, AJHQ releases new Checklists that you can unlock. Right now, there is the Series 1, Series 2, Series 3, Treasure, Limited and Solar Eclipse lists. At the moment, there are nearly 500 Pets that can be unlocked, which is a tremendous amount. You might have never seen a Jazwares Toy, and have no idea how to obtain the redeemable codes to unlock the animals on the Checklist. I have found two examples of Adopt A Pet toys, both of which contain the special, redeemable code. Let’s take a closer look at both of them.

The toy package below is of the Adopt A Pet Series Three: Cupcakes collection. Redeeming the code that comes with it will unlock one of the animals on your Adopt A Pet Checklist.
This is another example of an Adopt A Pet Jazwares Toy that contains a code. To see what the code is, simply scratch off the top part to reveal the code, and then go to Animal Jam to redeem it.
If you have already started unlocking Pets on your Checklist, you might have noticed the counter at the top-left corner, right next to the gift symbol. The first number tells you how many Pets you have already unlocked. The second number tells you how many more Pets you need to unlock for your next gift.

Yes, you read that correctly! There are special gifts you receive for unlocking a certain amount of Pets. Here is the list of gifts that you receive for unlocking Pets in the Adopt A Pet Checklist.
The Lion’s Mane is a very cool “hat” item that your animal wears on its head. It will make your animal look like a lion! You get the Lion’s Mane gift for adopting 5 Pets in total.
You receive your next gift on the roadmap for adopting a total of 10 Pets. The gift that you receive is a small pack of 3 Diamonds.
Animal Jam Pet Firefly
After adopting a total of 25 Pets from your Adopt A Pet Checklist, you will receive a slightly larger pack of 5 Diamonds as a gift.
Once you have adopted a total of 30 Pets from your Adopt A Pet Checklist, you receive the Pet Grasshopper as a Gift.
The more Pets you adopt, the better the Gifts become. Adopting a total of 35 Pets will reward you with a nice pack of 7 Diamonds.
New Rare Pet!
The Pet Ladybug gift is rewarded to players that have adopted a total of 40 Pets from their Adopt A Pet Checklist.
Adopting 50 Pets in total rewards you with a large pack of 10 Diamonds. This would allow you to purchase any animal from the Diamond Shop.
15 Diamonds is the largest pack of Diamonds you will receive as a gift. You need to adopt a total of 80 Pets to receive the gift.

This menu is very similar to the menu the player sees when making a new animal, except pets are displayed instead of playable animals. The menu can also be found by clicking on the Pets button in the Change Your Look panel. All of the pets that can be currently purchased can be found in this menu.
