20 Minutes into the Future, following a slightly Alternate History, Japan has become a technologically advanced land and one of the world's most prosperous countries due to the power of the Kings. These seven individuals are chosen for their abilities to embody the natural forces of the world, and they have the ability to grant powers to their followers, who form their clans. Two powerful sides - the Red Clan, HOMRA, and the Blue Clan, Scepter 4, have been at odds, and their conflict comes to a head due to the murder of Red Clansman Tatara Totsuka at the hands of a culprit claiming to be the Colorless King.
Amidst all this, an energetic 17-year old student of Ashinaka High known as Yashiro Isana (or Shiro for short), finds himself chased by a bunch of shady guys, members of HOMRA. Just as he thinks he's saved by the timely intervention of a swordsman calling himself Kuroh Yatogami, he somehow ends up with Kuroh's sword pointed at his neck. And soon after, all display devices within the city begin to static - show a man who is unmistakably himself, identifying himself as the Colorless King and committing the murder.

One thing that will strike new viewers who choose to watch this show is the indisputable high quality of animation. I have never seen an anime before or since with such breathtaking visuals outside of a full-length motion picture. Not only does it give you a wonderful experience during the first episode opening, and establishing this slightly futuristic city and the characters who call it home but it adds a lot of atmosphere and enhances the already well-choreographed action sequences.

Aside from the visuals, however, the story can be a hit or miss with certain viewers. I personally found it to be very entertaining mystery as to who the main character really is. Main characters in anime with amnesia is so common it has become very cliche, but Shiro turns the cliche on its head due to his calm and easygoing demeanor. In fact, all of the side characters, while some fitting into certain anime stereotypes, all have likable qualities. My particular favorites being the HOMURA gang member Yata Misaki and his rivalry with Scepter 4's Saruhiko Fushimi.

Still, if I had to pick the weakest element of this series, it would still lie in the story's execution. With as many episodes as there was with such consistent quality of the animation, I was satisfied by the ending. However, I can also see why certain viewers may feel like this is more style than substance. That with only thirteen episodes there is not nearly enough time spent with the characters to really become attached to them, and the constant jumping back and fourth between three different groups could be a bit hard to follow. Part of the problem I feel lies in the fact that besides the anime, various other media for the K Project exist to fill in the gaps of the series. Such as novels and manga volumes expanding on the back stories of several major characters along with radio dramas that give a better insight to how certain characters would interact of each other. Sadly, the novels are at the moment untranslated and the radio dramas are difficult to find outside of Japan. Though with the release of the move, Missing Kings, and the announcement of a sequel season, there is promise that any nagging questions and the continuing evolution of the characters will continue.
Despite its few faults, K Project is a unique gem in the anime industry and is highly recommended to anyone who has the time and access to watch it. Even if you can't get invested in the story, the animation alone should be enough to get you through to the end.

Munakata is a tall and muscular man with messy dark blue-black tinted hair that is parted to the left where it falls over his majestically handsome face, purple eyes, frameless rectangular-shaped glasses and broad shoulders, his military bearing making him seem even taller than he is.

As the King of Scepter 4, Munakata's outfit is quite similar to the standard uniform. He wears a high collared, long-sleeved dark blue trench coat left unzipped from the waist down; around it, there is a black belt with a gold-colored buckle strapping the two pieces of clothing together. Underneath his intricate coat, Munakata wears a white shirt with an upturned collar paired with a fancy cravat, dark blue pants, and knee-high black boots with silver metal frames.

When dressed casually, Munakata wears a black turtleneck underneath a buttoned up, gray jacket over black pants with keys strapped to one of the belt buckles on the left side, and brown mountain shoes.
Munakata is a sophisticated, observant and composed individual who is cautious in the battlefield. Although he is willing to use physical action in a fight, Munakata does attempt to win with victory through negotiation instead. He is a natural leader and generally puts the concern of innocent lives, and those of his men over his own.
He is also shown to be a strong willed, stubborn man who prefers to face his problems head on with his eyes open, and despises people who run away from them, as shown when he cuts Yashiro Isana off after the latter offers to share the burden of managing the Dresden Slate and whenever he faces the Gray King.

Munakata rarely loses his temper, often handling impossible situations in a calm, reasonable manner, but he is shown to be quite frightening when angered.
He seems to have a very punctilious side, taking a keen interest in anyone who measures up to his standards. This is shown as he personally chose to offer certain people to
